Heeeyyyyhooooo everyone! I don’t know what kind of a word that is, but it sounded fun, so let’s go with it. XD
I can’t believe it’s been a month since my last post – like what?! O_O Don’t worry. That’s changing starting now. I have a bunch of posts planned for this blog that’ll be coming weekly!
I thought that today it would be fun to give ya’ll an update on my writing life, so that’s what I have in store for you today 😉
A week ago I started editing!! I printed out my whole book and it seriously felt AMAZING to hold it in my hands, but it also kinda scared me…. XD
Anyway, so far (in the one day I’ve done it) I’ve found editing to be hard and it makes me feel like I’m doing school. That’s not a good thing. XD So now I know that editing is gonna take me
an eternity a while to get through…
Concerning my NaNo novel….
I’ve decided to shelve it for now. Emma helped me to realize that at this stage in our life writing should be fun – not a job. I was not having fun with this book and there’s not really anything about it that makes me excited. So it’s saved on my computer…. Maybe someday I’ll work on it again or maybe I’ll use something from it in another book – I don’t really know. But I’m just gonna let it sit for a while 😉
Heh heh…. Yeah, I’m brainstorming for a new book right now and I’m actually pretty excited about it! I want to put a lot of work into this one – give it history, create back stories for the characters, etc. It’s gonna be kinda like Narnia in the way of a character representing Jesus and there being Christian elements in it, but it’s not going to be so in your face that it’s majorly noticeable, but – well, like Narnia! It’s all there, but you have to look for it
Also it’s probably gonna be a dystopian.
So that’s what I’ve got going on in my writing life at the moment; what’s going on in yours? Writing a new book? Editing? In a slump? Let me know in the comments below and we can encourage one another – or rant about writing together, whichever you prefer. 😉
Would any of you like to see more Character Studies with Connor? 😀
Stupid writing. And how it’s stupid. How dare it. Why do I do it. What the heck. I hate my book. But yet I don’t.
That’s what’s going on.
Just keep writing, just keep writing… XD
You could always take a break from writing your nano novel and work on the Star Wars one instead!
Ah, I can definitely relate, Jaclynn! I’ve been having a bit of trouble getting back into my writing flow, but I wrote some fun blurbs for some new ideas of mine, and I can feel myself coming out of this little “slump” I’m in.
Anyway, ’nuff ’bout me! 😀 I can definitely understand feeling frustrated with your novel, but Emma is right…writing should be fun, not a chore. Stay positive and don’t give up! 😀
OOOH!! Writing blurbs sounds fun – I should start doing that more often… 😉
Thanks Grace! I really hope you gain some inspiration and get out of your writing slump!
Dory and I have a lot in common. XD
Your new book idea sounds awesome!! I love Narnia, so I’m sure it’ll be amazing. 😀
I haven’t been working on any of my existing stories… *guilty look* I have, however, been working on a short story that I’ll be submitting to a local magazine! The magazine publishes writing by local high school students, and it’s pretty cool.
I totally relate. XD
Awe, thanks so much, Clara! I hope it’ll turn out as good as I’m hoping it will!
Awe, that’s okay! Sometimes you just need a break from writing to work on other things. That sounds AWESOME!! And very exciting!! Good luck with that! 😀
Yeah, I agree. Writing shouldn’t be something we stress about. 😉
Thank you so much!! I’m a bit nervous, but mostly excited! 😀
I’ve written maybe…3 short chapters? I wasn’t splitting them up, just writing, and I filled 8 pages on a google doc. however, I want to finish a different book, that I started when I was 10, and I’m more than halfway finished writing. it. It was the first time I was like ‘I’m going to write a book!’ the beginning is a little slow, but it’s a fluff book, so it has to be slow to have fluff. 😛 And here’s a snippit from my star wars book, which jumps right into the point. XD
Master Shiri raised an eyebrow. How’ed she do that? I could only raise both….
”I thought you were paying attention, my padawan.”
“Oh. yeah.” My head dropped and I realized I was going to trip again. By the time I got around it I had scraped up an answer.
lessens while walking over rough-ish ground. she’s very clumsy. 😛
Most crazily, ~Olive
I know you can do it, Olive! It takes time, but you’ll get it done! 😀
OOOH!! A Star Wars book!! I like the Padawan 😉
I think I really need to sit down and finish a first draft of SOMETHING. I have lots of ideas for little children’s books which I also plan on illustrating, but for some reason, I haven’t been able to actually finish one. Maybe I’ll start working on those little stories this year.
Ooh that sounds like a great plan, Lizzy! 😀
Wow, you are accomplishing so many writing things! Right now I’m taking a break from my novel and not doing anything with it.
Why, thank you! I definitely hope that this will be a great writing year for me.
Oh yeah, I understand that. Sometimes you just need to step away and let things sink in, huh? 😉
Your new book sounds so interesting! And editing is pretty daunting…it takes plenty of time and patience. xD But it’s definitely worth it in the end.
Oh goodness, my writing life lately? *faceplants wall* I’m going to start getting REAL with Shadows this summer…like the hardcore editing. *nervous laugh* Right now, in the few moments I’m not dominated by school (high school is no joke o_O), I’ve been writing short blurbs and working big time on background stories and character development for my novel to be written after Shadows is finish, Between the Skies. I’m SO excited for it…I’ve already planned so much. It’s going to be extremely long though, and not a NaNo project. I’m looking forward to it.
Also I’ve been brainstorming ideas for Dawns Arising, like events I’m going to build up to and character development. So it should be getting more exciting!
My family doesn’t have any vacation plans this summer (we usually do), so I’m relieved I’ll have more time for all this. xD
But you sound like you’ve already accomplished so much! That’s awesome, Jaclynn!! It’s a good idea to shelve it for a bit after you’ve written it though. Breaks are important. I dearly hope I can read it one day! It sounds incredible!
Ugh, for real. I’ve only edited twice so far… This is just too hard. *cries*
OOOH! Between the Skies – that’s a great title! And my goodness, I was just working on background stories for my characters today. O_O Oh, I uh, kinda have the book idea I mentioned in this post set aside and am now working on something else. Tee hee. XD
DAWNS ARISING OH MY GOSH!! I love it.
That’s awesome, Misty! I wish you luck with all of your writing goals – I know if you set your mind to it, you can do it!
Awe, thank you, Misty!
I started writing a book called Wake, but I’m beginning to want to stuff it and write my fanfic.
Oooh, I know the feeling. Work on whatever is tugging at your heart
Oh my word that Dory meme XD XD XD
Best of luck editing! I hope I’ll get to that stage someday… but I don’t really write much anyways… XD
Thanks, Gracie! It’s so harrrd… XD
